According to a report by RevSportz, Jasprit Bumrah is expected to miss the upcoming ODI series against England, scheduled to begin on February 9. Additionally, the team management is reportedly concerned about his availability for the Champions Trophy 2025. The report suggests that while Bumrah may still be included in the squad for the marquee tournament, he could miss the initial matches if his injury turns out to be severe.
Jasprit Bumrah, the standout performer for India in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy, was named Player of the Series for his remarkable bowling efforts despite India’s 1-3 defeat. However, in the final Test in Sydney, Bumrah bowled just eight overs in the first innings and was unable to bowl in the second due to back spasms, which required him to be taken to the hospital for scans. This development has raised serious concerns for India, particularly with the Champions Trophy 2025 approaching in February.
According to a report by RevSportz, Bumrah is almost certain to miss the ODI series against England, starting on February 9. Additionally, his participation in the Champions Trophy 2025 is under scrutiny. While the report suggests he might be included in the squad for the tournament, Bumrah is likely to miss the initial matches if the injury proves severe. However, he is expected to be available for the knockout stages, providing a glimmer of hope for the team.
Jasprit Bumrah is expected to be included in India’s squad for the Champions Trophy 2025, though his inclusion will come with an asterisk. He will need to clear medical assessments from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) after regaining full fitness. According to a report by SportsTak, the star pacer will consult both the BCCI’s medical team and his personal doctor, who had previously treated him during his injury in 2022 in New Zealand.
In addition, Mohammed Shami, who has been sidelined since the ODI World Cup 2023, is under close observation by the BCCI for potential inclusion in the Champions Trophy. Kuldeep Yadav, who is recovering from a groin injury sustained during the Test series against New Zealand, is also being monitored.
Meanwhile, RevSportz reports that Yashasvi Jaiswal is likely to be called up for both the ODI series against England and the Champions Trophy 2025 as a backup opener alongside Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill.
