Barcelona recently turned down a €250 million bid from PSG for their standout player, highlighting their commitment to keeping him. Meanwhile, the injury-prone forward is set to return after 389 days, adding excitement as he prepares for the Champions League opener.
Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo have played a key role in Barcelona’s perfect season opener, contributing to four consecutive victories in their matches.
Yamal, in particular, is emerging as one of the top wingers in La Liga and is currently a frontrunner for the 2024 Golden Boy Award.
Olmo has also been highly influential, tallying two assists and demonstrating his value to Barcelona since his summer signing.
While Barcelona enjoys Yamal’s great performances, the club got a tempting offer to sell their star player earlier this summer.
That information comes from Olmo’s agent, Andy Bara, who has strong connections with director Deco and club president Joan Laporta.
Bara announced that Barcelona rejected an astonishing €250 million offer from Paris Saint-Germain for Yamal.
“One thing I know for sure is that Barcelona did reject a big offer for Lamine Yamal from PSG some months ago. The deal was worth somewhere around €250m,” said Bara (h/t Podcast Inkubator) in a recent podcast.
It’s easy to understand why PSG wanted to sign Yamal over the summer. The French club had just lost their star player, Kylian Mbappe, and was eager to find a replacement.
PSG ultimately signed Desire Doue to replace Mbappe, who transferred to Real Madrid for free this summer.
Barcelona has no plans to sell Yamal anytime soon. The young talent is seen as the future star of Catalonia, with many believing he could replace Lionel Messi in the years ahead.
A recent report by Javier Miguel from AS indicates that Ansu Fati is expected to be available for Barcelona’s Champions League opener against Monaco next Thursday.
This match will be significant as it will be his first appearance for Barcelona in 389 days.
It’s important to note that while Ansu has been training with the team all week, he still has to wait a bit longer to realize his dream of playing in an official match for Barcelona again.
His last game for Barcelona was on August 27, 2023, when he was substituted in for Lamine Yamal in the 76th minute against Villarreal.
After that match, Ansu was loaned to Brighton in the English Premier League. His time there had its highs and lows, and he faced frequent injury setbacks.
This week, Ansu rejoined group training with Barcelona, providing a big lift to the team. While there was hope he could be ready for the upcoming match, he was ultimately left off the squad list.
Barcelona’s coach, Hansi Flick, clarified the situation, saying: “We are happy to have him with us again. In the coming weeks, he will have a chance and that is good for the team.”
Flick’s remarks highlight the optimistic view on Ansu’s return. His presence in training has been a positive development, and even though he may not play right away, his recovery and reintegration into the squad are considered crucial steps forward.
Barcelona’s coaching staff and fans are hopeful that Ansu’s return will add a new energy to the team. His comeback could deliver the boost they need to reach their goals for the season.
The coming weeks will be vital as he aims to regain full fitness and rediscover his rhythm on the field.
