Barcelona’s young talent missed U-19 training due to a virus, impacting his development. Meanwhile, a Barcelona star has praised Vinicius Junior as ‘spectacular,’ highlighting the positive support amidst challenges.
Barcelona’s young talent, Hector Fort, faces a setback in his season progress.
A recent Mundo Deportivo report states that Fort was slated to join the Under-19 team for training sessions in Torrelodones until September 8.
However, a viral infection causing a skin rash has prevented the promising right-back from attending these sessions.
As a result, he is still in Barcelona and missed the morning training session this Wednesday at Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper in Sant Joan Despi.
Fort has yet to debut for the first team with Barcelona’s reserve team this season. He nearly made his debut last Saturday in the match against Real Valladolid.
Unfortunately, despite Dani Olmo’s request for a substitution, which created an opportunity, Fort was not chosen as the fifth substitute to enter the game.
In a show of support, manager Hansi Flick apologized to the young player, praised his hard work, and promised he would get more opportunities in the future.
Looking ahead, Fort is anticipated to play a key role as the right-back, stepping in for Jules Kounde. This move follows Barcelona’s failure to sign a replacement for the position, mainly due to financial limitations.
Budget constraints blocked the return of Joao Cancelo, who had been on loan from Manchester City last season.
In summary, despite the current health issue and missed chances, Hector Fort’s future with the team still looks bright.
Supported by the coaching staff and with the prospect of more chances soon, Fort is poised to advance his development and become a key player in Barcelona’s defense, particularly during busy fixtures.
The Real Madrid superstar made headlines in May 2023 after facing racist abuse during a La Liga match, with offensive chants aimed at the winger. Those responsible were given two-year stadium bans from attending any Spanish top-flight games.
Three Valencia fans were also given eight-month prison sentences, and Vinicius acknowledged that the convictions were “not for me, but for all black people.”
Brazil teammate Raphinha has defended Vinicius, describing him as a ‘spectacular person’ off the pitch.
“The Vinicius of the matches is completely different from the Vinicius in person,” the winger told Catalan radio station RAC1. “When you get hold of him outside of football, you realize that they are completely different people. I’ve already seen many players who off the pitch are one way and on the pitch are another. This is normal in football; there are many players like that.
“I try to explain to everyone that Vinicius is not a bad person – he is a spectacular person, a very good person. He’s younger than me, but when I got to the national team, he was already there, and he helped me a lot.
“We get along very well, and I also often talk to him and tell him that it is not necessary to do the things he does on the pitch, but I understand it. Each person is different; he is like that, and I think it gives him confidence in the field to do that.
“For example, Gavi on the pitch, in my opinion, is crazy, he’s very annoying. But off the field, he is an incredible person, loving, caring… Vinicius is the same. However, it’s hard to convince people that he’s like that when they see him in a certain way on the pitch. Only if you live moments with him will you see that I am right. He is affectionate. He is a person who is always joking, who is always smiling. It’s difficult to see Vinicius serious; he’s always joking.”
Brazil will play against Ecuador and Paraguay in September in World Cup qualifiers. As the international break approaches, Real Madrid trails Barcelona by four points. They recently won against Real Valladolid and Real Betis but drew with Las Palmas and Mallorca. Meanwhile, Barcelona has won every La Liga game this season.
