Barcelona recently turned down a €5 million offer for their veteran defender and was one of five clubs interested in an Arsenal star expected to leave in 2025.
Inigo Martinez’s standout performances have been a key factor in Barcelona’s strong start to the season.
The Spaniard has demonstrated outstanding leadership early in the season, showing that Andreas Christensen and Ronald Araujo will face a challenge to regain their places once fully fit.
Earlier in the summer, Barcelona had the chance to sell Martinez for a quick profit, but the club chose not to pursue it.
MARCA reports that Barcelona received a €5 million offer from an Arabian club for Inigo Martinez.
The offer came in the final days of the transfer window, presenting Barcelona with a perfect opportunity to cut their wage bill and secure a swift profit.
It’s worth noting that Barcelona acquired Inigo Martinez on a free transfer, which is why he ranks among the highest-paid defenders in the squad.
A €5 million sale would have provided Barcelona with a quick profit.
The report notes that Barcelona hesitantly dismissed the proposal from the unnamed Arabian club.
Barcelona was reluctant to sell Martinez due to uncertainties surrounding Ronald Araujo’s fitness and Eric Garcia’s unclear future.
As a result, Barça aimed to retain Martinez for the experience and leadership he brought to the team.
The decision seems to have been wise, as Inigo Martinez has emerged as one of Barcelona’s standout performers this season.
Thomas Partey’s departure from Arsenal next year seems increasingly probable, with five clubs already expressing interest in the 31-year-old midfielder.
The Ghanaian international has frequently been a standout performer for the Gunners, but his injury history in recent years is hard to overlook.
Since the 2021/22 season, Partey has been sidelined for 59 matches due to injury and started only nine Premier League games last season.
Despite this, Mikel Arteta plans to utilize him this season, and the 31-year-old has made a strong start. He has featured in all three of Arsenal’s league matches so far and even scored against Aston Villa.
The Gunners bolstered their midfield options this summer by signing Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad.
Merino will be aiming to secure a place in Arteta’s starting XI, and Partey appears to be the most probable candidate to lose his spot, particularly with the busy European schedule approaching.
Partey is entering the final year of his Arsenal contract, and it looks increasingly probable that he will depart on a free transfer next summer.
Despite recent injury setbacks, Partey remains a top player when he has a consistent run of games.
According to Caught Offside, up to five clubs are currently interested in the Arsenal star, who will be out of contract next year.
Barcelona is one of the clubs that has shown interest in Partey recently. Given the club’s intricate financial situation, they will likely explore the free-agent market next summer.
Atletico Madrid, another La Liga team, has also expressed interest in the midfielder. Partey made 188 appearances for Atletico from 2013 to 2022, winning three trophies.
From Saudi Arabia, both Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli are considering signing the 31-year-old when his contract expires.
Nevertheless, Juventus is believed to have shown the most serious interest in Partey, having been strongly linked with him earlier in the summer.
The Italian club is believed to be prepared to offer the Arsenal star a three-year contract, which would be highly attractive to him at this point in his career.
Even though Partey’s long-term future is uncertain, he is entirely focused on the current season at the Emirates.
“My head is always here,” Partey told reporters earlier in the year. “This is where I choose to play; I’m really happy every time I’m on the field.
“I know a lot of speculation has been going on, but for me, I’m really happy to be here and to continue playing for this club.”
